One Guess What I’m Doing for Halloween This Year!

Man, converting my truck into a Ghostbusters Ecto 4×4 for Halloween was an absolute blast! I couldn’t believe how much fun I had turning my everyday ride into a full-on ghost-busting machine. It all started with a wild idea and a lot of research, but the next thing you know I was knee-deep in stickers, lights, and a siren that really finished off the conversion.

I first slapped on those iconic Ghostbusters logos and red stripes using some high-quality vinyl stickers I found online. Positioning them just right took a little patience, but once they were on with some additional stickers, the truck started looking like it rolled straight out of the movie. Then came the lights, flashing green and white LEDs rigged up inside the windshield, back window, and a bunch of magnetic lights on the bumpers, sides and tailgate. The pièce de résistance? Two speakers I used as a siren, magnetically mounted on the roof. I connected the speakers via an iPad mounted in the cab, which also played music from the films while parked.

The best part of the night, was driving around the neighborhood, lights and sirens going with a buddy in the back dressed up as the one and only, Stay Puft. People seemed to really enjoy the truck and our chubby marshmallow friend, and shouted “Who you gonna call?” as we passed by!

It was fun driving around town a week before and after the big day, and loved all the reactions it received. I need to figure a better way to quickly change the beast into its alter ego. Probably switch to magnet based graphics and a roof basket to hold all the lights and speakers.
