In other news…

Just finished the fiber install at our mountain home, switching from copper wire to fiber for our internet.

Just in case you are curious, the following two pictures are of the actual fiber. The first is the line with the blue protective coating, and the second is the actual fiber that has been stripped of the coating.

It’s truly amazing that this tiny fiber line can fulfill the needs of a single family home, all the way up to a large corporate building.

Finally, the world is my oyster!

Well, first the bad news…

The ol’ 55″ TV took a dump, and needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, they don’t make 3D TVs anymore, and I have well over a hundred 3D movies on bluray. I was never happy with the old TV’s 4K HDR processing and still prefer 3D over 4K all day, every day.

And now the good news… the higher end OLED TV’s have really come down in price. I was able to go where no man (well, me anyways) has gone before, taking it up a notch to purchase features that were previously out of my price range.

Enter the Sony 65″ Class A8H Series OLED 4K UHD Smart Android TV

This thing is simply beautiful and the OLED technology gives me a picture I have only dreamed of. Android TV built in which is better and faster than ever. This thing communicates flawlessly with all my other Sony components and even has a Netflix calibration mode for streaming in 4K.

Even though I use an external surround sound system, I think it’s pretty cool that this beast utilizes a technology Sony calls “Acoustic Surface Audio” which actually uses the glass to distribute the sound in a surround type environment, putting the sound at the correct sources on the screen.

To be perfectly honest, I may have shed a tear or two when losing the ability to watch 3D and I hope and pray for a 3D revival at sometime in the future, but this 4K thing is starting to grow on me.

Flex Friday… Yup, it’s that time again

This is year four and I’m still going strong.

I took it up a notch this year and joined a local gym where I was pleased to find all sorts of new equipment. It was a bit of a shock at first, going from a smaller garage gym to working out around people I didn’t know. I went from three heavy workouts a week to four, more intense workouts including adding cardio.

I switched from lighter weight more reps, to heavier weight with lower reps. I could tell from the get go that there was a whole new world out there found by making just a few changes to my daily workout routine.

I know I say this every year, but if you are feeling sluggish and lazy, do yourself a favor and get out and start a routine that will revitalize your life. Start slow and move up as you begin feeling better and stronger. You owe it to yourself to make your time on this rock the best it can be, and getting yourself in better shape is a huge start.

I think this next year is going to be the best yet, and I look forward to another year of gains that strengthen both my body and soul.

It seemed like a good idea

So, I was very excited when my wife told me she finally planted a little cactus in my new Thanos Infinity Gauntlet planter I wanted to put on my desk at work. But when I saw the result I immediately realized that bringing this to work would most certainly get me called into HR.

Do you see it yet?

Proud parent moment

Yesterday, our little girl received the Presidential Gold Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence for keeping a 4.0 for the year. What better way to celebrate the day but to take her out on her first motorcycle ride!

Today, the final day of elementary school, she wanted to ride in on the motorcycle.

She’s hooked, and loving every minute of it!

Flex Friday… Three years, still here!

So thankful I decided to make this change. Still look forward to every workout. Some days are truly tough as energy levels are not always where they need to be, but staying consistent is the name of the game. We’ve recently added another member to our workout group which actually brought our workouts up to a new level.

Still working on being more consistent on my cardio (yuck), but I really love lifting heavy things and reaching goals! Another year under the belt, and I’m looking forward to really kicking it up in the coming year by increasing my cardio and getting my weight down to my ultimate goal.

Who’s ready to rock?
